Absolutely splendid evening yesterday. We won both our Petanque matches and our club team came away with a 3-1 win against very strong opposition. I think I threw a couple of decent balls which is always a good thing! The pub garden was busy and there was a great atmosphere. (Even if the new owners are charging a fortune for drinks). The bike ride home in the dark through very quiet suburbia on my eBike was thoroughly enjoyable too. It was good to get a cooling breeze across my bones. The forecast for today is for a cooler day than yesterday thankfully. Enjoy yours. #petanque #leicestershire

We've had a fair amount of rain overnight and now it feels a lot cooler and there's still that strong, gusty wind. If you're out on the roads where there's been rainfall after the long dry spell, remember the risk of slippery surfaces - two wheelers in particular. We're going to have a look at the allotment - I don't think we'll get much done, but it'll be worth going. Stay slippery! #Today #leicestershire

Back home from a 55km wedding anniversary cycle ride. By heck it's hot out there! I was starting to struggle more than a bit towards the end. Rode for a while with someone doing a 200km Audax ride from his home in Wrexham - chapeau! Had lunch at the Stoney Cove diving centre café - cheap and cheerful with a good view over the 'lake'. #audax #AudaxUK #Cycling #BikeTooter #leicestershire

Quick allotment trip to see how things had done while we've been away. It's not as bad as I feared. The peas are now next year's seeds. Some of the potatoes look a bit sick. But I harvested all the broad beans, a few lettuces and got some Charlotte potatoes up. I've watered all around as best I could but it's probably pointless. #allotment #Leicestershire

Yes we were dodging showers at our #allotment ! We sat out two downpours out in our shelter, but on the third decided to come home. We had lunch and a cuppa in the shed, but it's not a joy being wet through. In between the showers: I got some seeds sown, Sacha got the dahlias and lupins in, and did some weeding. We came home with some glorious tulips (I'll try and get a photo later). #leicestershire #weather
