1. I now own a PM1/2.5/10 detector (also co2, etc) and found my house air is surprisingly clean considering we have 4 cats

2. I'm still gonna build a corsi-rosenthal filter just for fun (since I have a way to measure effectiveness)

3. While ordering filters for that , found out neither of us has been changing the furnace filter. In fact, we don't even own the correct size. The "filters" (more like loose sponges) in there appear to be original from....2021?

Maybe the thick coats of dust explain why the air is so clean. But it might be better to take the strain off the blower...

Anyway, ordered a pack of MERV 13s in the right size so we'll see.
