RE: https://c.im/@cdarwin/116981152027273133 I keep telling everyone: THEY WANT US DEAD. This isn't about saving money; that's just a rationalization. They've convinced themselves that #AI can do all the work, and as far as they're concerned, we can all die of #heatstroke. Hannah #Arendt predicted, in the 1960s, the rise of a version of #fascism that wouldn't be content with targeting certain minorities. It would no longer rely on the labor of some supposed human master race. Instead, it would rely on automation, and its aim would be the extermination of everyone outside a tiny elite #oligarchy. And here we are. With exhaustion and #heatstroke for all. #exterminism #DeathWithDeniability

A Republican-controlled House committee passed legislation earlier this week that would prevent the US Labor Department from enacting federal standards to protect workers from extreme heat -- a move that came amid sweltering heat across the country. The Heat Workforce Standards Act, led by Rep. Mark Messmer (R-Ind.), passed the House Education and Workforce Committee on Tuesday in a 18-15 vote along party lines. If enacted, the legislation would bar the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) from implementing nationwide heat protections for workers —including those proposed by the Biden administration in 2024. The Biden Labor Department estimated that its proposed rules would protect around 36 million workers. Trump’s Labor Department has done nothing to move forward with the Biden-era proposal. https://therealnews.com/amid-deadly-temperatures-gop-advances-bill-to-ban-federal-heat-protections-for-workers

Organizers of Japan's summer events — "matsuri" festivals and fireworks shows — have started to reschedule them to avoid extreme weather such as heat waves and heavy rain that have become more prevalent in recent years. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2026/07/15/japan/society/summer-festivals-fireworks-dates-change/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #japan #society #heatwaves #festivals #fireworks #heatstroke

Hmm, I've never seen "loose bowel movements" (and I teach first aid). This is NOT on the heat stroke slides. Also: heat stroke, you are about to die, must cool down *immediately* (and your core body temperature is about to go over survivable limits). vs. heat exhaustion, where you are on the way to heat stroke. https://www.wrbl.com/news/several-first-responders-respond-to-lee-county-house-fire-amid-raging-heat/ #heatstroke

May Clinic: Heatstroke symptoms include: High body temperature. A core body temperature of 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius) or higher is the main sign of heatstroke. Change in mental state or behavior. Confusion, agitation, slurred speech, irritability, delirium, seizures and coma can all result from heatstroke. Change in sweating pattern. In heatstroke brought on by hot weather, skin feels hot and dry to the touch. However, in heatstroke brought on by strenuous exercise, sweating may be profuse. Nausea and vomiting. Someone with heatstroke may feel sick to their stomach or vomit. Flushed skin. Skin may turn red as body temperature increases. Rapid breathing. Breathing may become rapid and shallow. Racing heart rate. Pulse may significantly increase because heat stress places an extreme burden on the heart to help cool the body. Headache. Heatstroke may cause the head to throb. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/heat-stroke/symptoms-causes/syc-20353581 #heatstroke #heatwaves

The government plans to set a goal of reducing annual heatstroke deaths to below 1,000 in a review of its current action plan. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2026/06/28/japan/heatstroke-death-reduction-number-aim/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #japan #heatstroke #death #health #environment
