I ran Commodore OS for about a week as my daily driver, and then I needed really needed to switch to a dark theme for my daily driver. I probably could have configured a cool C64 tribute theme - and someday I may do so and contribute it back. But this time, I dropped in my Ol Reliable Debian install media, and decided to see what weird options I could find in the install menu. This led me to discover FreedomBox, and I think I'm in love. I realized I once again installed a server OS as my desktop, so FreedomBox had to go (temporarily). Back to ol' reliable Debian install media. This build will be a tuned experience that I hope to run for awhile. I was disappointed to learn that Hyprland is not in Debian 13, and has not been added to back-ports yet, either. I suspect I'll switch to it as my primary desktop, when it makes in. In the meantime, I added KDE Plasma as my desktop. My personal explanation of KDE Plasma is that it is what Apple desktop would feel like if it was just slightly better in 100 tiny ways. #linux #debian #freedombox #hyprland #kde #plasma

Could an old mobile device (phone or tablet) be used as a home server, FreedomBox styles? Imagine it has a big internal storage and/or SDcard, and it's running a custom ROM (a Mobile GNU distro) intended for the purpose. Plus it's permanently plugged into power and connected to reliable WiFi. Is this something we could realistically repurpose old mobiles for if they don't support 4G calling? #SelfHosting #HomeServer #FreedomBox
