We're probably not the only ones struggling with bot signups and the tedium of checking applications manually for validity via the Mastodon interface, possibly having to check the sign-up IPs too just to make sure no bots slip through.
Wouldn't it be nice, I hear you say, if there were a way to streamline this workflow a bit? Well, glad you asked. We've built a bot that does exactly that, with a nice Matrix messenger integration:
- Notifies you in a dedicated Matrix room about new signups
- Enriches the message with GeoIP location lookups
- Handles any number of Mastodon instances in parallel
- ...and you can quickly approve or reject signups just by adding a "checkmark" or "cross" emoji!
