Been taking in the voting on ChatControl, it has been interesting to see how people voted on Tuesday and today. In any case well done to everyone who got involved and helped out!
A lot of countries seem to have flipped, see the map left Tuesday and right Thursday. Well, the Tuesday question was: Do you want to vote on Thursday? Which is whatever.
But the question today was:
Will you allow American Big Tech to scan people's (unencrypted) communication until 2028?
So consider the Thursday vote to see who you can politely write to with your thoughts and feelings on ChatControl.
Currently the vote is awaiting the acceptance of the Parliament, only if it is accepted the proposal will be adopted.
Surprisingly and happily the Swedish S(AP) and Moderaterna voted No, but Vänsterpartiet is disappointing and Miljöpartiet all abstained. I wonder what's behind that.
It seems from the outside quite cowardly for Swedish political parties I know are heavily involved in LGBTQI+ and human rights.
In Sweden these left wing parties sometimes show some really weird authorative vibes. I haven't figured out yet what the cultural reasons behind that are.
