If your world doesn't sing, how is it going to strike a chord in the heart of the audience?
Interesting to see how people have responded to the original Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. Bitterblack Isle is quite light on any kind of story, realistically. You get a handful of dialogue sequences and a 17 page written story. However, there is a link through the main narrative and Dark Arisen established by the leitmotif in Eternal Return that seems to grab people well beyond the teeny tiny bit of story that's actually present.
I think about how the Lay of the Immortals (in-universe) and the leitmotif from Memoro de la Ŝtono ties the original trilogy of Vana'diel together too. Or the way Naoshi Mizuta used the Prelude and Theme of Final Fantasy to create a yearning and nostalgic sense in Forever Today. Music is so important!
If your world sings, people will sing with it!
