@cidney@mastodon.gamedev.place I enthusiastically recommend Nextcloud. I think it will have a lot of the features you're looking for. Talk = Discord/Slack. Not as many features but has voice and video calling, which is rare for selfhosted apps. Forum = Yep, it can do forums with the same users as all the other apps you install. Forms = Surveys! Office = Office suite with apps you'd expect I'm sure there are options for email blasts too. Every file made by each app is shareable. Sharing new betas or patches is super easy. And one advantage it has over almost every other app is you can talk to and interact with users who don't wish to make an account. No more dark web! It's not perfect and it's simplistic sometimes but I made one to replace a Discord and have been having a blast on it. #Nextcloud #discordalternatives  #discordmigration #discordisoverparty #matrixorg #irc

It’s nice to think about finding Discord alternatives, but realistically, is anyone going to move? No one platform has all the features that Discord users have come to expect in a neat package (and Matrix calls ≠ Discord VCs, they’re closer to Discord DM calls). If an alternative is centralized and gains enough traction, it will be targeted by governments and forced to implement age verification (which is why we’re moving to begin with). Realistically, I think the mass of people will hand over their IDs or deal with being a “teen by default,” because the alternative is losing all the friends they’ve made and communities they’ve joined so far.
