I have a list of some ad-hoc cooling measures you might consider during heatwaves (at least, in the west; may need to adjust for humidity impacts on the East Coast, unfortunately) ANY heatwave mitigation you start doing now will help for the rest of your life (IMHO)... worth considering this as this is not a "once in a lifetime" thing... this is "for the rest of your lifetime" thing.
