#chasingshadows

I just watched the very problematic to autistic people iTV show Chasing Shadows. BritBox listed the show as a dark comedy featuring a socially inept person. The Wikipedia article calls the lead character a misfit before later indicating undiagnosed autism. I'm so disappointed such viewpoints were present in 2014, when the show aired. The show went out of the way to poke fingers as if to say "look at the funny autistic person!". I watched the show, of course, totally identifying with the lead character and my heart broke with how everyone treated him (with very little exception) while having great difficulty in seeing his incredible contributions. No wonder the show wasn't renewed, despite quite the cliffhanger. So it is true that bad representation is worse than any representation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chasing_Shadows_(TV_series) #ChasingShadows #iTV @autistics@fedigroups.social #ActuallyAutistics
