The St.Déaglán / #Dagda issue of The Gods and their Croziers is (finally) out!

https://buttondown.com/godsandcroziers/archive/july-24-the-dagda-as-sts-deaglan-earc-dubhthach/

In this issue:

  • Exploration of several alternate Dagda names in hagiography, including Earc, Dubhthach, and Fergus.
  • Some of The Dagda's key godly domains, including as Sky Father and Thunderer
  • Some Cosmogonic and Narrative roles of the Sky Father and Thunderer gods
  • Deeper thought about exactly what Sky he represents, and a model where he's more specifically the God of the Liminal sky of Dawn and Dusk

Lúnasa (Lughnasadh), the Irish harvest festival, opens the grain harvest on August 1, the first day of autumn in the old Irish year. The weeks before it were the hungriest of the year; the day marked the turn from scarcity to plenty. https://juniperdivination.com/what-is-lughnasadh?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=what-is-lughnasadh #Lughnasadh #IrishFolklore #CelticMythology #Paganism

Alright folks, I'm starting a newsletter for all my #IrishMythology and #CelticMythology work. If you're into #Celtic and/or #Mythology, or #Paganism / #Heathenry then you may be interested to sign up: https://buttondown.com/godsandcroziers I'm using comparative methods to reveal the true identities of the Celtic-Christian Saints. I've discovered that nearly all of them are simply Celtic gods re-branded. It's new ground, there's a lot to learn and apply elsewhere. Sign up and share widely. It'll be fun!
