Forming abstract thoughts and ideas is one of the most primal abilities in a human species. How much is this ability of ours being used in the forming of current society, by governments and by corporations ? Around 1920 an idea started developing, that humans live in a dream world, that started being later picked up by marketing and governance. What makes You think that this foundational part of being a human isn't used in building current systems and exerting influence over masses, using this as their weak spot ? How much of current cosumerism and work culture is based on selling dreams and abstract ideas ? How much of sales is being made by convincing people of abstract needs and wants, they didn't even know they had or needed before coming in touch with those who try to sell it ? "American Dream" ? Dreams of freedom. Dreams of luxury. Dreams of riches. Dreams of convenience. Dreams of safety. Dreams of happiness. If we aren't just naive sheeps, who want simple things - love, belonging, community.
