È stato proprio in quel periodo, ha ammesso, che per la prima volta in vita sua ha dovuto affrontare seriamente il tema del denaro, lei che fino ad allora non vi aveva mai dedicato particolare attenzione.
A scatenare l’allarme economico è stato il panico provato appena uscita dal matrimonio, quando si è resa conto di quanto si fosse allontanata dal lavoro negli anni della vita coniugale. Garner ha spiegato che il suo mestiere non offre garanzie di guadagni crescenti con l’età, a differenza di altri settori: a un certo punto ha capito che non poteva sapere per quanto tempo ancora avrebbe potuto lavorare e guadagnare.
Lo scorso luglio Garner ha lanciato “The Five Star Weekend”, una miniserie televisiva drammatica che la vede protagonista e produttrice. Lo show è l’adattamento sul piccolo schermo dell’omonimo romanzo bestseller del 2023 scritto da Elin Hilderbrand. Negli Stati Uniti è una produzione originale della piattaforma streaming Peacock, mentre a livello internazionale la distribuzione è legata a Prime Video.

Guest on the “Aspire” podcast hosted by Emma Grede, Garner revealed a side of her life that celebrities rarely expose: her relationship with money after the end of the marriage. The actress said that being known to the public does not at all equate to having a guaranteed financial life, "you can't just subsist," meaning one cannot simply return “anonymous” overnight and live off their notoriety. It was in that period, she admitted, that for the first time in her life she had to seriously confront the issue of money, she who until then had never paid much attention to it.
The economic alarm was triggered by the panic felt immediately after leaving the marriage, when she realized how far she had strayed from work during the years of their marital life. Garner explained that her profession does not offer increasing earnings with age, unlike other sectors: at some point she understood that she could not know for how much longer she would be able to work and earn.
Last July, Garner launched “The Five Star Weekend,” a dramatic miniseries in which she stars and produces.
