Yesterday we had a great morning in Corktown! The weather was perfect, and about 25 parents and children joined us for conversations and a community bike ride. With this being a municipal election year, we invited mayoral candidates and Ward 2 candidates to join us. We truly appreciate everyone who took the time to come out, not just to speak with the adults, but to listen to and engage with the children as well. Kids may not vote, but the decisions made today will shape how they move around our city for years to come. Giving them the opportunity to share their experiences and hopes for safer streets is something we should all value. #kidicalmass #HamOnt #FamilyRide #ActiveTransportation #CommunityEngagement

Kudos to Canadian bike advocates sharing helpful resources, in particular: Thanks to BC Cycling Coalition and Capital Bike for bike event parking / bike valet templates, etc. Updated links: Toolkit https://www.bcbikevalet.ca/contents / related report https://bccycling.ca/blog/bike-valets-in-bc-show-growing-impact-on-mode-shift-climate-2025-final-report Monterey County is among the many regions that have had bike valet parking https://bikemonterey.org/tips-for-tourists/valet-parking-service-for-cyclists at some events, but not nearly enough. (It isn’t feasible that the most frequent valet provider for many years simply can’t do it all.) We’d love to see more people providing bike valet parking here—and chances are many of you have the same need in your region.
