Not that one. I'll be doing some political and other discussions here, with an appropriate CW where needed. I don't expect any great number of trolls or cookers, but I will not be responding or arguing with them. So don't even try Qevins and Qarens.

So according to Brady, the three time servers are in three different locations around Australia.
The devices are 15 years old. Equipment that uses software relying on GPS data needs to be updated very often and regularly.
GPS data needs to be accurate to microseconds to be reliable. Three devices in three locations can't regulate each other that accurately.
They need redundancy at each location, and three devices for that redundancy. And they must be hardware, firmware, and software functionally identical. The devices check their timing against other devices in the system.
Telstra were negligent with time critical systems and waiting longer than a few hours to correct the known faults.
Three devices at $30,000 is nine devices around the country for triple redundancy at #270,000. A pittance for the company. Triple that to replace them with more reliable hardware, and triple that to install and comprehensively test prior to switching over. A few million dollars. Too much and too expensive for Telstra? It would take a few years to complete safely.

What to say? How to sum up only the stuff that makes me seem shiny and interesting? My goal here is to post my daily sketches/drawings/paintings, and connect with other artists. I want to grow as a person & creative, by learning and sharing. If you use GenAI/LLMs: block me; I will be blocking you. Don't feed my art to the machine, please. Thanks for reading :) --------- Avatar: a digital painting of a bird person in profile Header: an ink wash painting of a pair of skeleton keys
