yes, three years is guesswork. three years is some kind transition period for alternate system, that assumes un-googled android, not stock android.
i have basically ditched android already and never used ios. i use linux laptops.
my point is, that after three years, even un-googled androids are impractical.

basically yes.
my opinion:
ios was already lost cause by apple's control. google is creating something similar to apple.
for near term, maybe three years. android without google components is an alternate option.
but i think alphabet inc eventually completes android takeover.

short:
initial days i thought that android is open platform, somewhere 2012.
at approximately 2020, i got deeply sick of android world's control and closed components. i also learned that bootloader has some catches even when oem unlock is activated.
now i think that android stars to be lost cause.

too few options. so i decided to vote to allow ai contributions.
some kind of middle option is needed, like "allow ai, but mark it clearly".

loosely related point:
un recently rejected discussion of slavery being the biggest issue for humanity.
i started to wonder how far slavery goes, roman empire, egyptians, further. who started slavery, by whom, to whom.

although he is corporate democrat, so called "problem solver". are democrats planning loosing in 2026 and 2028. i don't like to support this kind trojan horse mass surveillance in the name of protecting kids.
republicans are already bad as something, but this might make defending democrats more painful.
these days i feel, that democrats want to be republicans instead of republicans.

it is slightly like an advertisement.
in finland there is formal initiative going on.
@digitaalinenitsenaisyys@mementomori.social@mastodon.social

serious disclaimer: initiative has sponsors.
basically, it demands independence from foreign digital and technology services, mostly cloud services.
but those danish petitions sound good idea at this time.

this is slightly more complicated.
one uploader did introduce a age patch, and it got approved,
systemd reverted those changes.
itsfoss should do better reporting though.
my disclaimer: age verification is still a bad idea.

maybe not the last part. was this a plan all along. hiking oil prices help oil corporations and russia. roughly everyone knows that trump doesn't care about ordinary citizens. trump is beneficial to big oil.
last part is little weird though, maybe trump doesn't think after all.

because u.s. will rain bombs anyway, what kind of messages it will give future rogue states.
if you do not co-operate, bombs will rain.
if you co-operate, bombs will rain.
conclusion, every rogue state starts their own nuclear and military program, and it's only guarantee for something anyway.

for short term, i support this agenda. delaying alphabet inc's takeover of android is beneficial.
for longer term, android is pretty much alphabet inc's playground where users are just pawns for corporate greed and power. we need to move to other platforms. apple's devices are already closed.
alternatives:
laptop with linux distribution.
linux mobile, not android based.
technical basic phone.
ungoogled android, temporarily.

combining whats happening in u.s. politics and big tech corporate sector. it starts to be scary. i don't think alphabet inc is going to back down, it is about control and power and u.s. government is part of it.
for short term maybe:
linux laptop.
ungoogled android.
basic technical phone.
mobile linux distribution.
for long term. move away from android, it starts to be lost cause. apple's devices are lost causes as well.

developer verification gives more central control to alphabet inc.
third party app installs are still possible in modified android systems.
relying on closed platforms is a bad idea.

quite often banking app requires microg or android compatibility layer. basically android somehow.
sailfishos makes more sense without any android vomit. lack of native apps makes sailfishos unappealing.
consider ungoogled android for critical apps, and leave phone home without sim card. primary separate device for main purposes.

i don't like to downplay f-droid efforts, or spread pessimism.
still, my unfortunate opinion. android starts to be lost cause, too much gooish google in it, like there is apple control in apple devices.
it is not just closed google components, it is android ecosystem and api's in general. alphabet inc controls android too much.
of course, delaying destruction of open android is still beneficial for short term.

my point is not to say that both parties are equally bad.
even with democrats after trump and maga republicans, i don't expect giant change. u.s. system is more or less broken, and democrats can divert only some of it.
some days i feel that democrats are republican lite.
still, parties are not equally bad, difference exists or is it less worse.

i probably should think deeper. but i put these points now ... here.
europe should support independent and free platforms, not like google play and apple app store. those are too much walled gardens. also android operating system and ios are too closed, some kind of free alternative is needed.
individual app developers should not force users to use closed platforms. many cases websites with code is enough. maybe operating system independent open app platform is needed.
