@danilo@hachyderm.io @tomw@mastodon.social NY didn't have a dunkin donuts in the 1600s either, but I wouldn't want a donut specialist building my transportation grid. It seems like a separation of concerns. Sure you COULD add that functionality to Mastodon, but would it be better done by mastodon, or have it done by a similarly ethos'd project that can focus on it?

@tomw@mastodon.social @danilo@hachyderm.io ya. Nor is it that great at tracking decisions being made, concerns about a specific decision, and showing data on how people feel about an idea in general. A real solution to this should be more than just an addition to Mastodon I think. Mastodon needs to focus on being a great social site so we can share all kinds of ideas. I'm not sure an addition like that would get the attention it needs, and might feel shoe-horned in?

@danilo@hachyderm.io @tomw@mastodon.social that's an interesting idea, but why would it be mastodon as the tool for governance? How would that work even from a ux perspective as its current focus is social media? I could see connecting to it through APIs, but I'm not sure how that would look. I'm currently starting a coop to try to address this very issue. We need better tooling on how we discuss solutions and self govern a groups and actual governments
