I'm just saying I guess I'm actually 50:50 potential scams and real people I met, but I'm very happy I jut don't get so many scams :D

@Sh41@androiddev.social Yeah my point was that travel expenses should be par for the course, but speaker pay (not reimbursement), while it is fine of course, is a separate topic. I know not everyone can just take vacation days off but I've seen people of actual small community conferences that don't cost thousands, but 100 bucks, catch flak for not paying speakers. @grimalkina@mastodon.social

@Sh41@androiddev.social I think that's something completely different and I personally disagree. I much prefer the flawed person giving their first or second talk over "professional" speakers who just do their yearly tour in their ecosystem of choice. Sure, some are just better speakers, but at least for tech conferences I'm not there to be entertained but to learn about niche and useful stuff. Not "oh what am I gonna try to talk this year as they will book me anyway?" @grimalkina@mastodon.social

And it seems to completely depend on k3s (or kubectl) even being prepared to have this working via http. Seems useful though!
Maybe worth mentioning which YubiKey model, or is it less confusing these days which capabilities they have?

Small nitpick: The beginning made more sense (to contemporary Win 3.11 user) once I had looked up what Calmira is, but I think it was not such a mystery with the later screenshots.

@sunguramy@flipping.rocks FWIW, I've seen more "hate" directed at them for preemptively complying than anything else, but maybe I've not looked at the (public/media) commentary enough from afar in Europe.

@s0@cathode.church Not that I have any facts, but a lot of UIs esp in FLOSS are made by untrained (in UI/UX) software developers and tbh my experience is that unless your project is highly visible it won't just attract UI/UX people either.
Enough of those people are self-taught (in both disciplines) but what I hardly ever stumble upon are exactly those breakdowns of how stuff works and why it's awesome for these (commercial) examples.
I'm not saying this to blame anyone, but I'm not even surprised.
