It’s interesting because I was talking to my psychologist about this last week. Mental illness runs in my extended family specifically my best friend is a functional alcoholic. He grew up the son of a functional alcoholic. We all agree that alcoholism is an addiction, just like gambling, social media, etc. The problem is that as a society we are addressing the specific addiction. AA for alcoholics. For gambling the government has programs you can admit yourself to. What I was postulating to my psychologist is the real problem is some people have un underlying susceptibility to addiction. My experience with addicted people is regardless of good or bad if you remove an addiction they will replace with an unhealthy obsession on something else. Alcohol will be replaced with something else because the problem is the person has an imbalance they can’t do something in moderation. I’ve seen this time and time again. Plus factor in comorbidities like ADHD and you have a stew going. My point being, yes you’re correct tech is a problem, but it’s 100% the people too in some cases it’s just without the social media their addiction may have been benign so not visible. “Oh look at Mary with her beanie baby collection.” Or “oh look at Jack he really is a go getter running his 10k rain or shine every day.”

Yes and the point being spending 300$+ to eliminate 10 minutes a day is absolutely hilarious.

Disagree. My experience is they still don't get everything, can't do furniture or corners well or under furniture. They're stupid. They're expensive and if you really can't spend 10 minutes or less to vacuum your house daily or every other day it speaks volumes on the type of person you are. I stand by what I said. More money than brains.

The point is it's stupid and people who want to automate 10 minutes out of their day are equally stupid

I’m 48. I’m going to expend many of you here are white men much younger than me. Some words if advice. Have kids young. You will never be ready. There is an old expression, “In for a penny. In for a pound.”. Either you like the idea of kids or not. If you do, don’t wait just do it. Romance. African women are 🥰. If they’re part of the Diaspora and like me you tend to be more if an introvert the juxtaposition can work amazing. Don’t forget the forest for the trees. Yes the world is on fire. Yes things are increasingly bleak and hopeless. Enjoy life. You have family and friends and they are still important and mean something. Cherish that. Everyone makes mistakes. What’s important is do you learn from them and how do you recover? Comparison is the thief of joy. Be different. Be contrary. Challenge. If everyone jumps turn around and look at the person telling you to jump but don’t do it blindly.

A fun reminder that during the pandemic, before AI, there was a backlog in new cars because all the crucial chips were unavailable due to an increase in bullshit like wifi enabled toasters. It has nothing to do with AI. Consumers are asking for this shit and companies are delivering.
