@mhoye@cosocial.ca iphone has a “focus” that does this. I honestly wouldn’t carry a smartphone without this option. It takes one ice cream trip to have 100 messages in the family group chat that I don’t care about until I’m finished 14 other things 😂

@TobiasFrech@ijug.social I’m curious about your ip space. Are you using a cloud provider or your own allocation? I haven’t bothered in a decade, but at that time both ms & google were intermittently blocking fully compliant (fw/rev dns, spf, dkim, dmarc) for no apparent reason - it was source address, most cloud providers were on the block list. Most egregiously, they’d accept it at the ingress and drop it somewhere else in the chain without the recipient/sender ever knowing. With the tracing in 365/gmail now, that practice may have changed.

@Nujtag@fosstodon.org I’ve tried a bunch of wireless buds hoping to avoid Apple… but I use airpods pro.

They’re quite exceptional in terms of audio/microphone quality.

@adulau it looks like federation is allow list based, for those of us not on matrix.org, what is the process to federate?

@mayintoronto@beige.party I made the switch to full digital years ago as I got tired of storing used notebooks with limited secure destruction options.

First device was the original remarkable. It was super for note taking. It was terrible at opening epubs. That didn’t change… for years.

I wanted a device that could take notes, but also parse EPUBs correctly, or at least have a browser I could hit a remote calibre server with.

I picked up a boox tab ultra c pro. Writing on it Is ~85% as good as the remarkable. Reading epubs is… terrible. They render fine, but there is so little ram on the device it’s hard to use any applications without Android force closing them. Even with a single application running, the device runs out of memory.

You can choose not to have a boox account which should keep your notes local, no guarantees of course.

I don’t know if the newer remarkable has better epub parsing, but og remarkable is where it’s at for a purely writing device.

@jann@infosec.exchange @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de It’s io. If the system was cpu bound at 5000+ load you certainly wouldn’t be running anything interactive. More like typing out the command to stop the web service / nft block web traffic waiting for it to appear on the screen and execute just to restore console interaction 😆
