In Māori Mythology, Hine-nui-te-Pō is The Great Woman of the Night, and guides the spirits of the dead to the next phase of their existence.
It was also told to Maui that if he could climb up her vagina and out her mouth he would no longer be subject to death, so he turned into a lizard and snuck in while she was sleeping, but the little bird Piwakawaka saw and thought it so ridiculous he started laughing, which woke up Hine-nui-te-Pō, and she crushed Maui to death with her nether teeth.
