Even two years ago the "get a job" advice would be practicing problems from Cracking the Coding Interview and work on quality portfolio projects Today it's all about AI adoption and velocity at the expense of everything else. I really don't see a way to differentiate yourself other than spending a small fortune to vibe code 6 apps at once just to prove that you can use the tools And then you'll still be stuck in scrum meetings all day anyway

What's the new playbook for getting a job in tech? Clearly companies don't care about coding proficiency anymore.

Is the move to just burn a fuck ton of cash on tokens to vibe code a dozen apps you don't care about to prove that you're "AI forward" or some dumb shit?

@sophie I love the post and I love website design(s) I'm hoping that someday in the future we can all post critiques of AI without having to explain that criticisms of AI don't mean we _hate_ AI and are anti-progress. I hope that one day AI conversations are as boring and matter-of-fact as a conversation about when to use a NoSQL database
