Two editorial objects will be presented in Sala Ricson, crystallizing some of the learnings from InfraManteniment, a line of practical research that Hangar has promoted over the last four years to dedicate attention, time, and resources to creating, repairing, maintaining, or even dismantling infrastructures of all kinds.

The LaaS (Life as a Service) poster collection has been co-produced with TITiPI (The Institute for Technology in the Public Interest) and gathers the research mobilized by Jara Rocha on the vital consequences of the implementation of cloud computing. In political-aesthetic terms, it is a regime that prescribes the feasible and the thinkable, flattens and standardizes the most everyday experience, stiffens the material conditions of possibility in the distribution of the experience with the technological, and imposes logistically mediated schemes of subjectivity and coexistence. In their presentation, Jara will share their experience during the Hangar-La Virreina fellowship and will navigate their narrative compendium in wiki format. The four posters designed by Alix Turcq—in several languages and with variegated routes—stir the voices of the collaborators, interviewees, and accomplices summoned during the research process.

We are so happy to invite you to the launch of *Unsettling Data: Mapping Labour and Land against the Representationalist Legal Form*, a very special publication by Dilan Dagaz. The book examines what prevents data governance law from redressing the widespread exploitation of labour and land, by scrutinising the legal grammar of ‘data’ to expose the persistence of hierarchical power relations between the observer and the observed.

The event will pivot around a panel discussion with Cristina Cochior, Prof. Angela Dely, Dr. Ozan Kamiloglu, Prof (retd.) Usha Raman, Nayantara Ranganathan and Prof Joris van Hoboken.

Dilan worked on this path for his PhD dissertation, and his critical positionality placed him out of academia, which we as TITiPI understand as a gesture both liberating and difficult. Since then, his practice has continued to unfold a sensibility on witchcraft against fascism, as a result of the deep problematization of the rigid configuration of so-called reality that Dilan approaches as an ongoing endeavour.

We are at an impasse, a sort of transitional spacetime for resisting differently. While arguments are piling up to radically intervene in how computational infrastructures are governed, developed and financed, how to refuse killer-tech when it is in our pockets? Which practices and methods do we need to abolish what we call the regime of the cloud, it we can’t afford a binary refusal?
In this session, Jara and Femke will discuss portalling as a way to work with and through contradictions, without already knowing what to do. Portals are sociotechnical passages which need to stay thick, contradictory, probably mutually exclusive and interdependent in any case.

On May 5th at 15h we are contributing to a gathering dedicated to the possible futures and autonomies of artistic research, organized by a.pass at Wiels (Brussels)

✨ TITiPI was interviewed by Kate Rich for @FoAM@fff.fo.am circa a year ago (!) and we are happy to finally share that conversation publicly.

Instituting for TITiPI is an attempt to go against an as-a-service approach where everything should be flexible and instantaneous. Instead, we want to structure for collective generosity and exuberance at a time when too many things are on fire. So TITiPI's critique is not anti-institutional but about the need to institute otherwise. It is linked to the particular abolitionist politics we are committed to, which means we need to think about what infrastructures we need to dismantle, as much as which ones we need to build.

Public interest should be about these modes of care, of supporting life, beyond just a basic idea of care – and we shouldn’t shy away from practical solutions either! That's the type of reimagining we're interested in: that the public interest might be that. And then how to do that is really hard!

That reimagining happens across space-times including rebellious memories, inventive side-steps or uncomfortable prospections, so it's not only the projection of a future of linear progress, in a developmentist sense. That is one of the fundamental spell-breakings

Tomorrow, online workshop "Not so frequently Asked Questions (On Green Big Tech as a Counterinsurgent Force)" a the Decolonial Conference

Big Tech is not only complacent with but is itself the essence of counterinsurgency: it is the most world-making, overpresent, immediate materialisation of the imperial boomerang in our times. For this workshop, we propose a collective space to continue the sharpening of questions to keep rehearsing insurgency against Big Tech, particularly in its green techno-solutionist character. In that spirit, the Infrastructural Rehearsals Collective has put together an NSFAQ (not so frequently asked questions) to start to collectively formulate a shared vocabulary that circulates these questions and their potential grapplings with in spaces of anti-colonial resistance.

Converging in the question of a polycrisis, and the possibility of operating other imaginaries, this panel exchanges on methods situated in different practices and that, channelled through storytelling, manifest as listening, sharing, and re-telling. We come together to understand how methods of decolonial listening, drop-in rehearsals, and cosmogram-making, can uphold, expand, and interweave with other practices beyond our individual inquiries. How do different ways of knowing and documenting come into contact, and how can surprising coalitions, remembered networks, and reimagined infrastructures be formed without collapsing into everflattening sameness?

"It is important to remember two facts about the behavior of capitalist corporations (of their business-as-usual logics): these companies are not ethical and do not keep their promises, that is why even in this case we need to stay vigilant. But also, as seen in other cases known as ‘Disaster Capitalism’, Big Tech will jump in after disasters and war. It is likely that the very same corporations that enable genocide, will also offer the solutions for humanitarian rescue. We can imagine Big Tech will offer their services for building health, "greener" digital infrastructure and education. Now that the so-called peace agreement has been announced, we need to stay vigilant to how humanitarian operations might be loaded with rampant extraction under the guise of sneaky benevolence. The question is which corporations are going to jump into grab the loot of war and pillage the rebuilding of public services."
