Do you go back in time and not get an iPhone because Apple wants to force feed you their AI assistant? Or do you just throw away your iPhone, replace it with a phone of another brand, and then replace your Macbook, and spend forever migrating away from iCloud? 'Vote with your wallet' when you're in the Apple ecosystem comes with sacrifice, something the EU is fighting against.

@crinkles@front-end.social Just include it in your decision making. Sure, Google has given us a lot of (and probably most) visibility, but it never was the only way to reach our audience. Other search engines exist, there’s social media, and we can offer technical demos, generators, and playgrounds that is out of reach for anything generated by an LLM. You got this!

@michaelmosher@hachyderm.io @molly0xfff@hachyderm.io Great stuff. This is one of my biggest annoyences of the Dutch tax-funded news outlet, NOS. They try to be factual and articles tend to be narrow in scope, so they often fail to add meaningful context, fail to point out mixed statements, and are hesistant to label things for what they are, like dictatorships, facists, genocide, "climate scientists say" instead of "we're screwing up", etc. The bland reporting seems to mostly benefit the bad in this world.

@SaraSoueidan I'm starting at iO Digital coming month, so I don't have strings to pull yet, but I do know that their accessibility expert group thingy is located in Belgium. The org is growing, and they're interested in experts. If your friend is open to a multinational agency, that is. There's an opening for React dev (sorry), which could serve as a conversation starter or stepping stone.

Over the years, I've been a part of many teams that continuously identified software dev throughput bottlenecks in many more projects. The issue never was coding speed, something we've thoroughly optimised with tools, frameworks, libraries, and coding principles. Will opening more PRs thanks to AI-assisted coding improve velocity?

@eanakashima@hachyderm.io The benefits of this are obvious to me when facing immediate threats where there's no time to orient and plan a path to safety. Sharing common language so that you can get to safety with a single glance is huge. Bringing this to the office, where emergencies are rarely this immediate, seems to be little more than applying the name to preferred behaviour where we want people to do more than just point out problems. Is that assessment correct, or is there more to this?

Coming back to productivity: I enjoy working on productivity gains (maybe society brainwashed me idk) but I increasingly realise that the people who do the work I automate rarely reap the benefits. Usually, it's the company and those that benefit of company success. Giving back time to folk in a non-profit or co-op, however…
