Raycast is a great tool. The wrap-up is a nice idea.

The irony of layoffs.fyi using Airtable to list the Airtable layoffs would be funny if so many people didn't just lose their jobs.

@matt@author.chat I used your write-up on OKRs as pre-read for my team's meeting on OKR setting this coming quarter. :D

@matt@author.chat Always good to find you in another corner of the internet. What's your thinking behind running your own instance?

Continuing my book bender, I finished Ilium by Dam Simmons, the first book in the Ilium/Olympos cycle. I picked this up largely to try and continue the experience created by his Hyperion Cantos. So far the two series rhyme. Both have similar thematic elements and conceits but are divergent enough to feel fresh. I also started George Saunder's "Liberation Day" --- and the first story has me, full grasp. Excited to finish and check out the rest in the collection.

@darius@friend.camp I've only recently caught up on all the interesting projects and work you've been involved with. Do you have any intentions to start up something local again like Feel Train? I am selfishly interested as as Portland local.

Is there a GoodReads alternative that is federated, FOSS, or implemented ActivityPub? I've recently wanted to get back into tracking my reading and putting together lists of books I want to read in the future. I've used GoodReads for this in the past but not only is it owned by Amazon, it's also a terrible piece of software from a UX perspective.

Yesterday I finished the final book in the Hyperion Cantos after a single minded drive through all four of the novels. I need some time to process, but I really enjoyed them. It feels in league in both tone and quality to Dune. The two separate stories (really two related duologies) are both similar but meaningfully distinct. Having read both back to back, I was at first put off by the shift into Endymion and it’s more approachable structure. I’d definitely recommend them all. #books #scifi

Migrated myself from thomas@mastodon.social to thomas@freeradical.zone -- federation in practice. Being able to choose to associate myself, and my data with the host I want is breath of fresh air. Having it be a breeze to do so is even better.
