Ever noticed how Linux is getting slower and slower to boot? Absolutely systemd.
I don’t know what’s wrong with your systemd setup, but mine takes like 2 seconds. I spend more time waiting for GRUB to time out.

Second NixOS. I’m curious as to whether Gentoo does much that NixOS doesn’t do, aside from not using systemd and not having a world-readable store.

What made reddit great at one time was the diversity of genres and depth.
The depth? I thought it was like 75% shills and CIA actors

Ask a Christian how an omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, omnibenevolent, and perfect God who supposedly was the source of everything can create something “flawed” and punish it for eternity, and they’ll have a stroke trying to explain that free will is somehow a thing then make a bunch of nonsensical analogies

My science teacher showed us pictures of the dragons that people hunted and about the hidden coves where dinosaurs still exist and there’s native tribes that know about them but nobody talks about it because it would kill their evolution narrative

I was messing with the NixOS system config in weird ways and accidentally bricked it a few times, but I just booted into a previous configuration and fixed it. Whereas with Arch you would be fucked and have to pull out a rescue disk.

I think they meant not having a great firewall, which they don’t need since they’ll use military and economic force instead

All of the working class has part of the responsibility for the lack of organization
The time I tried applying they ghosted me for over a month, then I finally got an interview, and they ghosted me after that indefinitely. Later the same chapter defended a cop arresting a protestor against a rearrest which upset a lot of smaller leftist orgs, and now the national organization is promoting anti-datacenter protests with literally no context which I’m not sure how that’s supposed to help their popularity. Also their opsec is terrible as well, I mentioned that I have technical skills during the interview but they didn’t seem interested in that.

Probably strong influence from corporations, billionaires, other wealthy people, and NIMBYs, along with fearmongering from establishment media to distract from actual problems.

So now California has a governor pretending to be pro-Palestine to do damage control while signing laws that give Zionist corporations more control over your data and hardware

For AI I think a lot of future improvements will be around making smaller more specialized models trained on datasets curated by people who actually know what their doing and have good practices as opposed to random garbage from GitHub (especially now with vibecoding being a thing, so training off of low quality programs that it created itself might make the model worse), considering that a lot of what it outputs is of similar garbage quality. And remote system configuration isn’t obscure so I do think this specific issue will be improved eventually. For truly obscure things LLMs will never be able to do that.

I use Ironfox also mainly for the plugins. I have the personal stuff on my phone over Tor since I don’t want to pay for a VPN, and I’ve noticed that Ironfox is a lot slower than Vanadium/Cromite for that setup.

If all of the web engines enshittify, you can always curl the HTML/CSS/JS and hand-parse it. Might have suboptimal performance however.
