@wwahammy@social.treehouse.systems Yeah, when I compare straining my neck a few months ago, that would have been a 7 cause I couldn't comfortably lie down or move my left arm much, but hurt much less, while I was avoiding activities, than headaches that I treat as a 3 or 4.

@NanoRaptor@bitbang.social I feel like 1²ₙ being larger than 1ₙ is a problem for some other parts of life but I can't name them offhand

@esvrld@normal.style people are too afraid to have a wet decaying temple these days. you can't grow the cool phosphorescent fungi if you don't let a little mold happen and let the lightbulbs in the basement burn out, is how I feel about it. you can disinfect yourself after the ritual if it bothers you that much

@NanoRaptor@bitbang.social Actually kinda possible I'm cheating it at this point by going out of the screen's sweetspot and the hue shift behaves differently for nearby colours

@NanoRaptor@bitbang.social found out that if I move from about 1 to 3 feet from the screen I can spot the line during the motion, took my score to 0.0033

@NanoRaptor@bitbang.social It's an interesting test cause it feels like I have one threshold around .006 where I can be unfocused and spot the line immediately, and then another at maybe .003 where once I see the line I can tell it's a threshold, but my general vision can't locate it, so I only sometimes find it. Assuming the number in the top left shows the difference during each individual test. My score ended up being 0.0052 which kinda bears that out.

@brad@m.toad.host yeah, especially rough when the existing code was already on a "update monthly with security fixes" level of quality, so 'just don't update' also sucks

@pikhq it's funny, to me it makes the most sense at the polar opposite ends of code - things that will only be run once, so it's reasonable to not care about bugs outside the intended input, and things that are extremely thoroughly tested, like every input and output is known and the challenge is to make it complete them faster on particular hardware limits. At my most cynical I wouldn't have guessed how many people act like their work is in the first category. Like I know software broadly is looking for the "next big thing" at all times but a project like "Windows the OS" doesn't need faster sloppier commits, it needs to be a stable platform for people to use computer
