At no point in this piece does it say what the misinformation is. And yeah, it’s cooker conspiracy stuff. We waste so much time on issues like wind farms or ants or fluoride etc, blaming the messenger instead of telling them to stfu with their crazy talk.

Reading this after reading various chapters in Henry Reynolds’ History of the North on the Chinese in Darwin and FNQ and the White Australia Policy and damn this particular Australian hobgoblin since forever.
Landbridge took a failing port entity and made it profitable in the same way the Chinese did with so many ventures in those places in the early days of Australian nationhood and we keep rejecting their industry. Why Beijing continues to deal with us, I just don’t know. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-05-01/chinese-owned-darwin-port-launches-legal-action/106633362
Proud to be one of the many and growing number of migrants to Australia. Luv ya guts Straya. https://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/england-over-taken-as-australias-top-overseas-country-of-birth-for-the-first-time/x8eee5qb9
Pretty sure there are frog lovers here. Took a macro of this little fingernail sized Golden Frog which live only in Bromeliads. Endemic to the specific region around Kaieteur in Guyana.
Experienced one of the world’s great waterfalls yesterday, Kaieteur. Never heard of it? Wiki is your friend. Remote and massive. Bucket list stuff.
I had hoped that when Nine sent Lisa Visentin to China we would get more nuanced commentary about the country and its place in the world. Instead we get recycled Peter Hartcher columns and the same retired national security ghouls to back up the scary headlines. Why did they even bother? https://www.smh.com.au/world/asia/made-in-china-evs-are-taking-over-the-streets-but-just-how-safe-is-your-data-20260420-p5zpfw.html
New objection to transition to renewables, specifically solar and why we need to continue with fossil fuels. A massive super volcano explosion which blankets the earth with ash and blocks out the sun. This is regional Australian life in a Nationals electorate down at the bowlo.
“A big day for World Peace! Iran wants it to happen, they’ve had enough! Likewise, so has everyone else! The United States of America will be helping with the traffic buildup in the Strait of Hormuz. There will be lots of positive action! Big money will be made. Iran can start the reconstruction process. We’ll be loading up with supplies of all kinds, and just “hangin’ around” in order to make sure that everything goes well. I feel confident that it will. Just like we are experiencing in the U.S., this could be the Golden Age of the Middle East!!! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
Very good Op-Ed on this long running case.

Just a tanker explosion under the Bridge of the Americas in Panama which has sustained some damage. Purely coincidental, I’m sure.
Planned and booked long before Venezuela and Iran, I’m travelling to South America and Canada to visit family from next weekend and am not looking forward to the many challenges in this role
If the American Israel war against Iran wasn’t so hot we would hear more about what the US Southern Command, in concert with Ecuadorian forces, is doing in that country and it ain’t good, people.
Been watching the Houston ATP250 tennis tournament over the past week and the almost entirely white spectators appear as you might imagine for a very wealthy Texas crowd. Everyone looks like a MAGA loving Republican voter, the men, all various versions of Tucker Carlson and the well turned out women look ready to turn you into ICE for existing while brown. The American Country club Stepfordness of it all is truly unsettling.
Definitely going to read this later

I accept my comprehension of diplomatic nuance may not be elite level but this seems like America is blaming Israel for initiating the attack on Iran, which suggests things may be heading into clusterfuk areas
“It was abundantly clear that if Iran came under attack by anyone – the United States or Israel or anyone – they were going to respond, and respond against the United States,” Rubio told reporters at the Capitol.
“We knew that there was going to be an Israeli action. We knew that that would precipitate an attack against American forces, and we knew that if we didn’t pre-emptively go after them before they launched those attacks, we would suffer higher casualties.”
