@jimmyb@selfhosted.cafe Hahaha, that's the toot that put netbird on my radar. I knew of it from a while back but was amazed to see what it's grown into, at the minute it looks like that is what I'll be going with. Probably on a hetzner VPS in P2P mode with my services I host.

Hey #homelab & #selfhost crowd, my setup is stable enough and has worked for years but it's probably not the most secure and I'm thinking about moving away from a local reverse proxy for the services I want to expose and going with a #pangolin or #netbird setup for all my home network anywhere needs. Has anyone made the switch, which one did you go with and was there any pitfalls?

@petealexharris@mastodon.scot Yeah, I was braced for a bad day but slept well last night when the final count was in.

@welshpixie@mastodon.art Yeah I wouldn't bother with the big tank one, they tend to degrade faster than normal inkjets and the other two is basically is you want a bigger standard paper slot or not. You'll not have any issues with either on a up to date linux system, you can either use the provided linux drivers, brother make them for both debian based (.deb) and red hat based (.rpm) systems or use airprint, I always just go airprint as it works fine and cuts out most upsell crap printer drivers do.

@welshpixie@mastodon.art Brother is definitely the way to go, color laser is probably not a good fit for your needs but they do make a rather spanky colour inkjet that even does A3, the mfc-j5740dw. If you don't need A3 the next model down will save a bunch of cash and is the DCP-J1360DW, they can all do duplex and all use airprint so no drivers needed on a modern linux system.
