It's hilarious how every EV thread on the Internet always has one person who is like "well I can't set a land speed record for my daily trip to the one taco bell I like which is 376 miles away because my chalupas will get cold if I have to charge for 20 minutes."
Meanwhile everyone who actually owns an EV is like "yeah it really isn't a big deal, I get 400 mile chalupas all the time"

It would be super easy to make it modular so the batteries can be swapped when they reach end of life. A well maintained lithium cell can last decades though if it is charged and discharged at relatively low rate.

Yeah we studied this exact literal scenario in the "renewable energy" engineering course I took in like 2007. The future of grid scale storage will basically be utilities giving out free or heavily subsidized battery packs to individual customers to form distributed micro-grids which can balance the renewable "duck curve," and a major catalyst for this will be when EVs help establish a lithium battery recycling ecosystem.

Yes, the advertising is straight up misleading, saying shit like it protects you from viruses, and hides your browsing history from your ISP and lets you get international Netflix. It literally does nothing for viruses, it just exposes you to a different ISP (Nord), and Netflix is usually pretty quick about VPN blocking.

I have literally never needed a pressure cooker or slow cooker. If I need stock in less than 8 hours I will just buy some from the grocery store and spruce it up with fresh aromatics. On the other hand, if I need to make stew or pork shoulder or chili, I’ll use a dutch oven.

I waited too long and regret it every single day. Every single day. He could have fallen asleep in my lap after a entire day of treats, cuddles and hanging out. Instead he had a seizure and hit his head and died whining in agony on the ride to the emergency vet at 3 in the morning. Every memory I have of him, over the span of 16 wonderful years now exists alongside this extremely traumatic experience.

Post scarcity is kind of an odd man out here. The idea predates tech broism by a solid half century, and informs a lot of contemporary leftist theory. There is nothing inherently wrong with using utopian thinking as a guiding principle for iterative policy. I’d argue that anything which doesn’t do that is cynicism.
