Keep in mind your hsotijg provider could ram dump your mastodon instance, backup the drive, decrypt it and send it to the state gov.

The comprimise was made where nsfw could be enabled but with toggle on the desktop app, the the toggle couldn’t be referenced in the app. So when your encounter it it says “NSFW content is blocked on iOS” with zero context. But you can enabled by clicking the enable nsfw content on iOS toggle on the desktop app

Generally tumblr was smeared and pushed until they banned porn

@rant@mas.to I considered switching to android, but kept running into the issue where sandboxing is not exactly great, and apps like Facebook user lesser documented functions to listen to microphone and camera, or look at background apps even if you do not grant permissions for it

Generally It is always conflicting cause like while I do think some of these sites need to crash and burn, the idea of having corprate gate keepers to censor what they don't like online is a liberal view, and not a leftist one, like I also do worry given mastodon is not immune to the appstore, it one of the few points users cannot directly control

@fiercemilder@mastodon.ie I think when messaging apps were still maturing, it was much easier to do this, since at that point no one fully knew what they wanted. Also adding a reccmenations algorithm/trending would likely turn googles instance into twitter.

I think any company could clone Mastodon but it’s federation that matters in mastodons case. Which eliminating that at some point would kill off that platform really quickly.

The biggest reason I say this is while they could add centeralized features like verifications, a discover algorithm and more. I overall think most Mastodon client have a solid user experience, and on top of that I feel like there isn’t a ton of features they could add
