And I think a lot of people here specifically are asleep at the wheel and do their future selves a disservice not keeping a finger on the pulse.

@b0rk@social.jvns.ca I found myself using it extensively recently learning Kotlin (coroutines, flows) via Google’s AI mode as follow-up to many searches (which I always made habitually). If I don’t find an answer immediately, I’d ask it to produce a specific example as large as a simple app (like hello to old or a todo app) that exercises the thing I’m asking.

@b0rk@social.jvns.ca @ripienaar@devco.social I think it’s completely fine to avoid if you can’t manage the hazards, that’s just good risk management. I always err on the side of either “easy to verify”, “easy to design guardrails for”, or “low stakes” when I delegate things to it.

@b0rk@social.jvns.ca I was just thinking of your zines! (the last one I’ve read was pre-covid tbh). Pretty wild that right now I can have a robot synthesise a tutorial on any niche topic you can think of in seconds basically. Anyway, there is a lot of noise in LLMs being everywhere, but I think you gotta think of it as a force of nature and just ignore and weather it: a lot of PMs and directors in large orgs panicking about missing the boat and shoving it everywhere, it’s gonna wash out eventually.
