Now dynamic typing just seems insane :) Will check it out - I assume you decided that way after looking at the various frameworks they turns web apps into native apps? @enobacon@urbanists.social @lkanies@hachyderm.io you definitely can get good results from guiding, planning, understanding and not much reviewing. Even on quite large projects. But it’s a hard skill to learn. It’s paradoxical but it’s not tools juniors can be successful with and success requires a lot of experience I have success with large mostly generated projects that once I take the time to study it and understand it I am happy with the result. Language choice matters a lot though. Go is incredibly well suited

@lkanies@hachyderm.io yeah, I tend to guide it on code architecture minutiae but same when it comes to web I don’t know a lot so I can’t make it not be dumb. There is a config setting somewhere where you can tweak its work approach and if you set to teacher or learning it will explain a bunch and ask you things about its explanation etc and I found that helps me help it do better but yeah injeeently it’s dumb and does dumb things and need a grown up in the room.

Trying to really spec up front a personal project like write out a project overview etc.

Not really what I want to be doing with my free time but I think the outcome so far is already looking more solid than if I just winged it as per usual.

Certainly helped to pick better dependencies already - the one I really liked would have been a giant pain to build with now that I see the scope of the idea.

Ugh.

Writing a CM system is all fun and games until you realise you're using Unix and its a shitshow.

The examples in the video is perhaps not the best - you dont gain much from a single tool call. But here is it doing 4 tools calls in a row to solve a problem, fetch a lot of data then combine, smmarize and report. In our case, from your Apps perspective, it’s lock free. You can choose to yolo count or reliably count - you can even retry your count if it failed within a dupe window. Typically the app doesn’t need exact counts (most counters you see on the web are approximate) so in our case you get current value back after write for a single operation write+read. It’s made for easy caching. You can have many millions of counters, shards easily, easy to make reliable etc Super dope.

Another really cool feature I designed for NATS - a distributed CRDT based counter.

Distributed meaning infrastructure at a factory floor can have local counts that flows up to regional and global levels via stream replication and eventually end up at a global count. Seperate clusters all contributing to the total with regional/location views.

You can choose to have auditable counts etc
