I finished the Animar painting for my husband today. This is my attempt to reproduce the Animar secret lair art by Jack Teagle. I'm still relatively happy with how it came out, despite my lack of skill.

Also, this was scanned with an actual scanner instead of photographed with my phone. Yay! I have a flatbed scanner again! It's not quite large enough for the whole 12x9 painting but that's okay.

After weeks of not touching any of my art works in progress, I finally finished my Animar sketch last night and inked it today. Despite my best efforts to get the proportions right, everything is unfortunately shifted to the right compared to the original. I couldn't even fit some of the original image's elements into my piece. That said, I think this is close enough to the source image to be recognizable for what it is.

And now I see all the lines I missed - I'll go back and finish those before transferring to watercolor paper.

My #MTG secret lair order was supposed to ship today. Instead, I got an email from #WotC that due to production delays, the new shipping date is June 8. That will be six weeks after I placed my order.

Well, I'll tell you what.. this was the first time I ordered a secret lair set, and it will be the last. For $12 in shipping and a 6-week wait.. I might as well wait for the cards to hit after-market sites where I can buy just the cards I want, and not pay for shipping at all.

I want MTG to thrive. I want WotC to succeed. I hope they get their act together.

@stephaniepixie@fandom.garden @madargon@is-a.cat Not too weird though.. or diet has changed faster than our biology. We used to do a lot more chewing, so our jaws grew bigger. With the advent of cooked food, we do a lot less chewing, so our jaw doesn't grow as much. It's just a result of more or less stress on the bone, causing it to grow or not. I ate a LOT of raw veggies as a pre-teen/teenager, and also wore a bionator to straighten my teeth (and counteract the stunted growth sucking my thumb until age 8 had caused.) The end result is I have plenty of space for all four of my wisdom teeth, with enough space to even brush the back surfaces. The lack of space for wisdom teeth is a side effect of our "modern" lifestyle. (And by modern I mean for as long as we've been cooking our food.)

Whenever I lie down for a nap, I bring a #ferret to bed with me. They almost never stay put. If I'm lucky, one might let me snuggle for a few minutes. Imagine my surprise, then, when I went into the bedroom last night and found Rusty and Amber passed out on the bed! So cute! (I built a set of stairs out of boxes covered in kitchen towels so they can get up and down as they please.) #ferrets

For the record: #MTG players are required to announce triggers of the cards they control. You cannot, for example, remain silent about your Charismatic Conqueror when your opponents play a creature or artifact, and hope they forget about its trigger. You have to say something like "Charismatic Conqueror trigger?" or "Do you tap your creature or artifact?" or "Do I get a token?"

If you instead remain silent and hope your opponent forgets about it, and let them play their creature or artifact untapped, and then wait until they pass their turn - you have missed your trigger. You do not get to say "haha! you forgot my trigger, now I get a token!" You get nothing.

You also cannot forbid your opponents from reminding each other about your trigger. Players can if they want to, but you yourself are required.

It's not only an illegal play and cheating,* it's a slime-ball move. Don't be a slime-ball. (Yes, this happened in a pod I played in this weekend.)

How appropriate that today is National Super Hero Day, because it's also City of Heroes 22nd anniversary! Now I wonder if the game was launched on this day in 2004 because of this specific holiday.

I'll be celebrating in #CoH this evening, probably by running an Imperious Task Force on Everlasting (Homecoming servers). I hope to see you there!

@jerbear@kind.social As an administrative assistant supporting a CPO and five VPs whose calendars are frequently full all day every day, I myself am a very busy person. Even my peer who only supports one executive (the CEO) is busy all day. We're not sitting at our desk painting our nails or chit-chatting, as is often depicted in TV shows and movies. We're busy playing Calendar Jenga Tetris, accommodating competing priorities from a wide range of people around the globe, trying to keep our executives on track without letting anything slip through the cracks, while also trying to shoehorn in breaks for them to occasionally visit the restroom. I do not have time to chit-chat. I barely have time to pee.

Even when my #watercolor #painting doesn't come out as nicely as I'd hoped, I always learn or reinforce a lesson. And it's still fun!

Mountains: I learned that I can't accurately create a gradient of colors in separate wells. I need to paint ALL the mountains with the lightest purple, let it dry, then go over foreground mountains with successively darker and more saturated layers.

Hawk: if I want to leave negative space, I need to block it out beforehand. I'm too heavy handed with the color otherwise, leaving zero negative space.

Parrot: metallic paints perform SO WELL over existing colors (much better than on their own).
