If I ran a prg it would be like:
- Weeks 1-4: public interest technologist type papers
- Weeks 5-8: islamic geometry papers
- Weeks 9-12: cryptography papers repeat
Wish there was a public interest technologist-focused paper reading group I could join ....
I don't want to run one ... but then again, maybe it wouldn't be that bad?

@lzg@mastodon.social I recently started eating 100g a day and this transition was only possible for me by eating microwaved liquid Just Egg, IQ bars, and the Rebbl protein drinks (strawberry). Cooking that much protein was way too much work and I gave up and switched to these mostly prepared foods.

Just want to say this is something I'm guilty of as well in my career as an engineer, and have been trying to get better at recognizing it before it happens.
Really insightful post on how STEM educations aren't preparing engineers for the reality many of them face: being expected to tackle issues that can't and shouldn't be reduced to simple engineering problems, but they keep trying to do it anyway.

@RachelThornSub That's not my read of it based on:
- "Second generation or later: Also born outside Canada to a first-generation person. This person is now Canadian in some situations."
- "Citizenship may have been restored or given to people who were born outside Canada in the second generation or later before December 15, 2025."
- "This rule also applies to you if you were born to someone who became Canadian because of these rule changes."
The last point is the one that really seems like it applies to any direct ancestor. What do you think?

Some caveats:
1) You must have been born before December 15, 2025 for this to apply (which if you're reading this, you are), and
2) You (obviously) need to be able to be able to provide some proof of your claim
Big news: Canada changed their citizenship rules and now if you've ever had a direct ancestor who was a citizen, you are now automatically a citizen too! https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/act-changes/rules-2025.html
I've been sharing this around, and I know a few people who've discovered they're now Canadian citizens!
