@evin it is honestly. which is why i'm starting early so that when (or if...) i get a date, i will be less overwhelmed. imagine if i have to scramble for all of this with only one month to prepare! there's only so much i can do at this stage, but if there's something i can do to prepare, i want to do it. as for the rest, it's up to the clinic and myself to figure out later.

another pain point is getting a laptop... i don't need it per se, but i think it would be a big quality of life upgrade if i did. for instance, i can watch videos on a bigger screen, and i don't have to hold it up like i do my phone. my current laptop can't stay powered on on battery anymore (though it's less of an issue since any laptop would probably need to be plugged in to be used all day) and its keys aren't all functional anymore, so i may need to get a new one. but of course... the gen AI bubble driving the prices of everything up... even if not for that, i probably need to get one as cheaply as possible. something that probably can't run games. not because i don't want to play games, but gaming laptops are insanely expensive and will wipe out my remaining savings.

@evin i believe it is also subsidised if you are a patient at the suporn clinic. i am planning to get a more expensive room, if only because the showers are better for those rooms compared to the cheaper ones. money can be earned back (hopefully), but if i screw up during my recovery, i may be screwed for life, so i'll try to minimise my suffering for the recovery period.

but i also need to set some money aside for the stuff i need for recovery at home (like lube and sanitary pads); the $32k is just for the trip itself. so really, it's more like i need $33k (or more) to cover everything. one of the things that stick out to me is what i'm going to do for laundry over there, and i think i might go with the nuclear option of just bringing enough clothes to last me a whole month. from the sounds of things, staying in bed as much as possible is ideal for recovery, so i could probably stretch the use of the clothes out some. the only thing that really needs frequent changing is underwear, but maybe a bunch of disposable underwear works? not sure if it's a good idea to use those when things are fresh from surgery down there, however...

i find it interesting how the first assassin this time round didn't wear a mask, causing the mages around Jester to even question if they summoned assassin. it's a parallel to how Kojirou was a fake assassin in Fate/stay Night, being an assassin that doesn't assume the Hassan identity (the name and the white mask).

Faldeus did so much as declare that it was a fake war, but he also insinuated that there was more behind the scenes, so i figured he lied about it being a fake war. but now it's revealed there truly is a fake war but there's also a real holy grail war.

anyway, the identity of the rider in the ED is now revealed... kinda interesting they reprised Heracles as well (though as a different class), on top of Gilgamesh.

@davidrevoy the sad thing is, at least they produced the extra avian intelligence units. the gpus and datacenters irl, on the other hand, have not been produced and yet they already have such a drastic impact on prices...

@catdad @Natsura I've had a fic idea where someone goes to hell, thinking it's gonna be either fire and brimstone or a frozen wasteland, and then it's actually just a utopia with a great diversity of entities being themselves and living together in peace. And the demon tour guide is like, "What? Why did you expect us to be evil?" And heaven in this fic would be the complete opposite of course.
