@NinjaDebugger@mastodon.sandwich.net that's what I was thinking, especially when I was thinking about really small scatter terrain, like sandbags or whatever. Tiny to a mech.

@NinjaDebugger@mastodon.sandwich.net you know what I'd enjoy making, but tell me if it appeals to BT players, but themed bases. I could see a Kuritan set with clean orderly streets, torii style elements, cherry blossoms, with a mix of ordered and battle scarred versions. Or Steiner ones that are more concrete slabs and industrial. Might be a lot easier to incorporate small elements directly into them, and could include a few variations of each with vehicles or whatever

@roofuskit@mstdn.social I agree really, but just not not with my soft heart that loves the building and painting more than playing. I could see a future where the craft part of the hobby becomes almost non existent and people just buy in and play. That's definitely cool in that it's people getting together to have fun, we need more of that, but I would weep for my nerdy little creative hobby (that would continue to exist in all probability)

Re: pre-painted terrain. I get it. I really get it. Wonderful for people who don't enjoy painting it or don't have the time or the skill or all the right paints and stuff. It's great for all the people who like that I guess.

But I hate it. I feel like it's some harbinger of a change in a very fundamental aspect of this hobby and I hate it so much! And I might be wrong and I'm ok with that. I'll away and find some clouds to yell at.

I don't really pay attention to gaming news even for games I like but I just realised I missed an expansion for Mechwarrior 5 and there's another one due out this month. Think I'll treat myself to both when the new one comes out and take another run through.

@NinjaDebugger@mastodon.sandwich.net are you resin or fdm printing? If you make a little list of bits you think you'd like this is probably something I can make in a day or two, be happy to send you them for free for figuring out what needs made

@NinjaDebugger@mastodon.sandwich.net I have some 6mm scale hex based buildings I started work on a while ago, I never finished them because I didn't think they were up to quality but I have learned a lot since then. I might take another look

@SunDancer@metalhead.club yes but the thing is (snigger), the thing about orks (snigger snigger), one of the essential factors about orks really (muffled giggling), is that they are EVER GREEN! I'll see myself out

@SunDancer@metalhead.club I think if I was to start orks I'd end up doing a whole faction over the course of a year or so. It's a very tempting idea really.

Turns out I might be able to put a _lot_ more time into doing 3D modelling going forward, more now but we're also moving and I'll have more of a dedicated space for it too! What to work on first?!

Listening to that first Evanescence album again and you can just sing the male vocal lines from bring me to life over just about every song. It's a good album imo but it's definitely one note

I've got the drawing bug real hard. At some point I crossed over into being able to fall into a flow state that feels like when I used to draw fantasy maps. It's still hard and I've still got loads to learn but it's fun now. So I spent like 2 days drawing this for my project. It will actually be about a third this size but I couldn't resist printing it out and trying a little colouring in. Need better paper and more pen colours.

@roofuskit@mstdn.social I'm going to make an effort to pop in a little, see what everyone is up to. I miss seeing all the hobby stuff, it just needs to be in very tiny doses for me, I think being on social media is like being at a rave for me, great fun (I assume) but extremely overwhelming.
