I had a job interview scheduled for next week, but got an email that they were canceling and not moving forward. This has never happened to me before. Have others experienced this?

@neatnik@social.lol my last boss criticized me for being too nice to my direct reports. I explained that I was kind, not nice. He didn't understand the difference. Kindness is accountability, support, corrections, praise, the "hard conversations". That's how I want to be.
I know I've said it before, but I'm devastated when I read job descriptions for senior or staff front-end developers that post things like "basic understanding of HTML" or "nice to have: CSS knowledge". The front of the front end is so important to usability and accessibility, but most places only seem to care about "ship fast and break things" velocity.
I want a job where my skills are valued and the organization actually practices their "inclusive" mission for all audiences. It's why (among other reasons) I want to stay in higher education.

@Willow@chaosfem.tw perimenopausal enby on T here! I love it. Low dose (1.67% topical gel over my shoulder 2x/week) to start and it's been extremely helpful, along with a hormonal IUD so I haven't had a period in over 5 years. Nearly all my symptoms have gone away: hot flashes, night sweats, waking up 8 or more times to pee. In the US, so my nurse had to prescribe it for gender dysphoria because they wouldn't cover it for perimenopause.

@ClancyParliament@mastodon.online others have made some good suggestions with distros I've used. My main laptop is 4 years old, running Zorin (I did build-to-order on that one). My 3 yo ThinkPad yoga is on Origami, and my 15 yo MacBook Pro is on linuxlite.

@neatnik yes! Love Fastmail. I just upgraded to add my wife to my plan, so we can have a shared family address in addition to her having a personal one. Masked email is a dream, plus using my omg.lol address!

@ShaulaEvans I had to unfollow and block someone who tried to justify their constant punching down, mostly using size-based comments, since they were "against horrible people". Call out the bad behavior or the bad politics or whatever! There are so many valid points where people are shit. People need to stop the fatphobic and ableist "jokes".
