I hear you. Although since the 32-bit integer is *signed* we do need both binary charges to be distinct. So I reckon they're calling themselves Proton in the sense of what cool kids call a hydrogen atom.
Germanium and gadolinium each have atomic numbers of 32 and 64, however neither of them can exist as +1 or -1 ions so I have no fucking idea why they chose 32-bits if they're called a damn Proton.
They likely know something quantitative about gluons or dark matter that they're not sharing yet. #️⃣ 💩📨

Ancient Proton Calendar prophesies End of World in 2038
TIL that all some UNIX based systems have a Y2K38 superbug in which the number of seconds that have elapsed since the Unix epoch began (Jan 1, 1970) are stored as a signed 32-bit integer which maxes out on March 14, 2038.
I suppose Proton Calendar is just using a generically premature cutoff because reasons. Unfortunately experts report no known solution to this problem and we will very likely be without computers after this date.
Edit: The recent discovery of signed 64-bit integers (as published in PNAS) will now allow us to kick the can down the street an additional 292 billion years until overflow. Unfortunately, this only delays this apocalyptic problem for a mere 21 times the age of the universe.

HeliBoard: For anyone else who’s become so adapted to it that they really want searchable emoji in it, here goes the only slightly circuitous way to do so:
Just go into its settings search for “suggest emoji” and tick it on, it’ll transfer you to where to download “emoji_en.dict”, install it, and you’ll be able to type a colon immediately followed by descriptions of the emoji (e.g. “:fear”, “:shrug”, “:shit") and have the autosuggest field populate with associated suggestions.
Edit: Sometimes it’s slightly glitchy and the autosuggest keeps suggesting emoji after you’ve moved on to just typing regular words, but it’ll eventually catch up and switch back to the right dictionary.

I was under the assumption a Jedi (or a Mandalarian) would eventually kills him.

So since we know Palpatine’s consciousness is alive in a strand-cast on Exegol (since Mando & Grogu precede episode 9), for my money Qimir could make for a good new Vader.

What’s the likelihood that Motorola will eventually lock down GrapheneOS though? Imho it’d be a bad move if they did. The FOSS mobile OS community has matured to the point that we don’t need to rely on for-profit monoliths any more. Motorola would be smart to lead the way to where the mobile device economy will be.

Mass surveillance for advertising seems marginally more benign than mass surveillance by one’s own government, personally. Though admittedly both are bad.
Edit: I can find alternatives for most of Google’s ecosystem but mapping out accurate bus routes is terrible via OSM/OsmAnd or Organic Maps. Anyone have any tips there?

Loved this Gilliam banger as a kid. Robin Williams, Uma Thurman, and Gilliam's Monty Python alum Eric Idle are in it for those who haven't seen. As an adult I see a lot of parallels with that movie and Tarsem's "The Fall" (2006). They're giving hopeful yet melancholic fairy tale energy.
