@oprinds yes, exactly! both »take care« and »pas på« has this duality: it can be about protecting someone or protecting yourself from them. this kind of ambiguous language can hide who endangers who: »protesters clash with police« is a technically correct way of describing cops beating up some people, even though the sentence can conjure up an image of protesters attacking. isn't the same duality there in #trafficsafety too?

there is a quiet shared-use path near the #ICA supermarket in #älmhult, #småland. someone felt it was important to put up a large red warning about the dangerous #bicyclists there. ☠️🚲⚠️ 🪧 a sign reading: WARNING FOR CYCLISTS! BE CAREFUL WHEN CROSSING THE CYCLE WAY

so-called #trafficsafety is often straight up #victimblaming, placing the blame for #trafficviolence on those who are hurt or killed by #cars. 🔄
