The Neverending Meeting
I was perfectly aware of what types of games are addictive to me, but just for fun I proved it again. Just a little bit of Builderment, eh? Well suddenly my whole day is gone, I barely remembered to eat something, and I'm still trying to think how would I build a better system. :blobcatgooglyholdingitsheadinitshands:
But yes, this is the game type. Colonization, Civilization, Dune II, Stardew Valley... Games where you build production lines. Those are my demise. Always has been.
My suggestions for some new collective nouns, like "a school of fish" or "a murder of crows"

There's a specific electronics product I like, but they are all produced in Asia and don't follow the durability standards of EU. The motors break after a month or so. Amazon.de sells them, but they just skirt the responsibility by saying well they are shipped from outside EU so it's not their problem. I think it should be. Cheap and poor quality mass produced junk should not cross the EU border without penaulty.

Regarding Ted Turner's departure, I'd just like to say one praise... Captain Planet was Turner's show. He created it with (*checks wikipedia*) Barbara Pyle. I hecking loved that show as a kid. And I learned from it. It planted the seeds of caring for the planet in me, and I'm grateful for it. :blobcat_owo:
I'm also sad that there aren't more series like that. There should be. Captain Planet's message is a hundred times more important now, than it was in the 90's.

Trying to search anything on any search engine is now like "yellow lefthanded size 5 torx screwdriver" -> "here's a 1000 random size philips screwdrivers, some of them are yellow"
Any specificity is ignored. I can add 10 different qualifiers in my search and by default 9 of those are all but ignored.
I feel like searches used to be better, you know? Every search thingy is just mostly useless now. :blobcat_tilt:

@shironeko@fedi.tesaguri.club There needs to be strong enough legal pressure to make that a norm for all browsers and devices, not just some devices and some browsers. That pressure would come from an EU wide legislation, which is what this thread was about.

@shironeko@fedi.tesaguri.club Not on my phone. On my desktop sure, but on iPhone it's still Apple's way or the highway. I haven't figured out how would I add uBlock Origin on Firefox on an iOS... It should be a built-in feature in operating system that wouldn't require a 3rd party addon. If Apple doesn't want it there, the EU wide directive/law would tell Tim Apple to go kick rocks. I use internet so much more on my phone that having it working on desktop is only half a solution.

This conversation popped up and reminded me of this...
While I can do that, the sites will still show the stupid cookie banners at every step. What I would like is the sites to get rid of the popups and just trust the browser when it says no thanks, you are not saving cookies here.
Clearly something is not working here, because even if I've set my Firefox to prevent "Cross-site cookies", I still get badgered about the cookies. Let's not fool ourselves a solution already exists.

Frankly I'd love this. If I could just set a browser setting once and for all to tell all the sites to shove the cookies up their nose, I'd be more than happy with that.
