I can't stand Alberta, its government or its policies. It's a shithole that's shifting to a model of extracting maximum profit for the UCP's corporate buddies at the expense of everyone else. At the same time, Canada is sprinting as fast as it can to ram Bill C-22 through which will effectively turn us into a surveillance state. Hiding behind the classic "think of the children" line has always been short for "we're doing sketchy shit and we don't want to be questioned on it." Plus there's no such thing as a secure back door for encryption, it's just a ticking time bomb for data breaches. How did I end up losing no matter which way the separatism bullshit goes? I'm ashamed to be part of both province and country alike. #cdnpoli #abpoli #billc22

@virtuous_sloth@cosocial.ca Nah, the UCP will just use the not-withstanding clause to say "nuh uh" and pass a bill saying it's fine.

@rotopenguin @r3vilo @nixCraft Flatpak or native package? Sometimes one works better than the other depending on the system

@r3vilo @rotopenguin @nixCraft Seconded, been running Wayland only for a while and Steam has always ran fine. This is on Nobara and CachyOS, maybe Debian-based distros have an issue?

Sometimes it feels like things are going in circles; but that's a very narrow minded, two dimensional way of thinking about life. You have to look at it from that third dimension, and you'll actually see it's a downward spiral.

@nixCraft@mastodon.social I literally just got my hands on a Thinkpad W530 last week. Did the 7 row mod, EC and BIOS flash, threw on Fedora Budgie Atomic (really don't want my laptop being unstable, old hardware risks support being dropped). Of course now that that's all said and done I read that they're looking at implementing age verification. "Non-intrusively" but it's still opening the door for more bullshit down the road... Any suggestions for a distro to hop to from there? Or maybe waiting and seeing how it goes and jumping ship if it gets implemented?

@chad@mstdn.ca @Paulatics@mstdn.ca Wait, age verification? As in submitting ID to random online services and hoping they don't get hit with a data breach? I was trying to find it in the bill but I think these things are written to be as hard to read as possible...
