Infrastructure in office closets often leads to more waste (under the weight limitations of the building, cooling difficulties, etc.) and often worse uptime than the next levels of scale (redundancies in peering, power delivery, cooling, 24x7 on-site technicians become worthwhile, etc.). I think they're a good choice for the lifestyles we're actively choosing as a system that works for our service providers, small or big.
