@harrysintonen I guess easy way to "program" atari 2600 is to insert RAM / ROM into the cartridge slot... and make your life easy. I guess best way would be to insert Pi Pico and then use 2600 for output only :-).

@arcaneoverflow@techhub.social @derf@social.skyshaper.org Yes, pretty clearly having a charger that simply provides 12V on USB is very bad idea. But also, if you are making an USB device, please make it 20V tolerant. Polyfuse or something. [And I believe at least some manufacturers are doing that.]

@whitequark@social.treehouse.systems @derf@social.skyshaper.org Why do you believe it will not survive 12V? I guess you should not try, because it may be out of spec for the devices, but old Nokia phones were designed for 5V charging, but were actually designed to survive 15V IIRC according to service manuals. I'd strongly suggest anything USB to survive 20V these days, and may guess is that a lot of hardware would actually survive.

@derf Can you actually do any USB killing with it? They should not be doing this, but any USB device should probably expect 20V on the input these days... and my guess is that many devices will tolerate 12V just ok.

@dubstar_04@fosstodon.org @jbowen@mast.hpc.social #linuxmobile "Camera tuning" ? No sir, we are not doing camera tuning at the moment. We are in "it would be cool to have camera drivers", "major pieces of infrastructure are missing" and "oh, people would like to record video?" phases. For "boring phone", OnePlus 6 + phosh should work. And yes, people are working on cameras (including me, we can talk at Fosdem), but we are not yet in the tuning phase.

It was hard enough to get chatgpt 4o to recognize what user wants, and models I could run on 8GB machine just plain did not work in useful way. Maybe 128GB machine would make a difference?

@AsteroidOS@fosstodon.org So... There likely is place for Linux smartwatch, but do you really want big-enough watch so that they can run Linux for weeks? Smartwatch is good reason for good & small system that is smaller than Linux (in particular does not need MMU and can run in less than 256KB RAM). See https://www.espruino.com/ , I like that one.
