@tante@tldr.nettime.org I remember the slogan ”organize the world's information and make it accessible,” and it still appears on their website. To us non-galaxy-brained folks, the AI push fails on both counts: it DISorganizes info into slop and makes it INaccessible to anyone not able or willing to pay. @parismarx@mastodon.online I was also intrigued by Framework, but then they chose to co-sponsor software projects led by a real racist POS called 'DHH'. They were called on it and elected to double down. Per Linux, I've been on Ubuntu nearly 20 years—it got me through grad school just fine and works great despite my current employer being a Microsoft client (for OS, e-mail, office, groupware, etc.) If you're on Apple hardware, a bootable USB stick and later dual boot can be great ways to get started.

@GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social may be worthwhile to publish both their fact-checker's questions and your responses somewhere. People will be able to draw their own conclusions by contrasting info available to their editors vs. things they omitted from the final text.

@dingemansemark @olivia I'd agree the first and final point of objection should be that “qualitative analysis” is wrongly applied to describe what they're doing. Running text through an LLM is plainly a statistical/*quantitative* exercise, notwithstanding the statistics being opaque or the output having the form of words.

On commons (compatible with homesteads) vs. enclosure, I just finished @danmcquillan@kolektiva.social 's “Resisting AI” which draws together a lot of intellectual history and links it to other important ideas. Highly recommended!
