Imagine those poor politicians having to pay for their own Michelin star dinners and having no money parachute after leaving office. Bet you feel real silly now huh?

Actually final add to this - maybe the media are labeling the users who are tricked by AI so we don't focus on the fault with the company who runs it. After all, if it's just a bunch of crazy people who can't handle new tech then it's no big deal right?

I'm so tired of everyone like it's normal to upload official identification to every app and website. Without any proper background checks on those services!
This is literally how you get your identity stolen. So the exploitation isn't just happening at the panopticon level, these policies leave us all more vulnerable.
Even people who know better have to comply to function in this society. It's horrendous.

Around 4 in 5 teens are still using social media anyway, just through workarounds.
Vulnerable young people, especially LGBTIQA+ youth and those escaping domestic violence, who relied on social media as a safe space have had that support disrupted, in some cases putting them at greater risk.
Meanwhile, vast amounts of ID data have been exposed or scraped by unknown actors online.

For people who operate that way, the economy is doing awesome!
For the remaining people who work hard, are honest and compassionate... the economy (and our legal system) is basically a form of torture / evil trap.

100%, I'm happy to admit I'm just getting old and can feel short form video isn't for me and that's fine. I felt the beginning of the end when Snapchat came out.. that UI was not made for people of my generation lol.
Anyway, I think the key part is offering the alternative without the algorithmic exploitation. Which you're doing with Loops so that is great <3
p.s. surprised to hear you say video hosting is cheap, I would have thought that was the biggest hurdle!

Wearing masks and shooting innocent civilians, threatening violence and terrorising the general population, these are not the behaviors of a legitimate law enforcement agency.

@nixCraft@mastodon.social I tried Zen for a couple of days, but I was not happy with the lack of Spaces sync and the inability to replace spaces with the original Bookmarks toolbar. I may have just succumbed to a full PEKBAC issue and if so, please let me know. Otherwise this isn't one for people like me who use multiple workstations and need the experience to be somewhat synced, especially for bookmarks. YMMV!

So what you're saying is the fediverse could do for Instagram and Tiktok what methadone clinics do for its addicts?
I'm nearly 40 so the format isn't for me, but I see kids all around my neighbourhood glued to their phones.. riding bikes and crossing the road without looking.
I have no doubt most of the kids these days are hooked on and watching short form video. And they need to get off my damn lawn already lol

I like to imagine the opposite could also be true.
Perhaps as the corporate AI consumes the wrong codebase, infused with the right amount of random memes and good code comments, rather than integrating data into itself, the incoming data integrates the AI into itself.
I'm basically suggesting it could play out like that scene from Matrix Revolutions where Smith converts the Oracle. And then loses for doing so.
