That's not as easy as I'd hoped with the SP-404 so I'm drifting to using ipad more so that I'm stopping short of a laptop as my studio brain for the recording part, but i don't know how long I'll hold out.

@emptyvessel_nz@social.bitwig.community this is me right now. I have gear I use but not deeply enough, and others like my SP-404 where I know I'll never know it as deeply as I need to. It's a sampling monster disguised as an oversized calculator. I like it but I don't think I'll keep it.

So as it turns out, there is an instruction manual for modular. I bought this 2nd edition copy of Roland's 1979 four volume The Synthesizer knowing my future self would need it one day.
