@scottsantens@hachyderm.io This is a great piece about universality and means testing. I am trying to imagine how to craft a resilient culture that would not continue the inequality pressures and predation on the people in need. Could a society be more robust against corruption and exploitation?

@griotspeak@soc.mod-12.com Broadly, I think there is a failure of imagination. The easiest solutions are prompted by the existing systems. [cf. A. Lorde] “We can fix it”. The aim to return to a prior, storied, status quo would simply return us to the prior faults and injustices. People need to examine the wreck, embrace what they most need from it, and use that to build something better. The Legos need to be disassembled completely to create a new art.

@ahau @benlockwood @nakal I do define Intelligence. Differently for different systems, e.g., a dog doesn't see the world the way a cat does. I am aiming to get some people to embrace that an LLM—say as an encyclopedia—is made of a map of the book, the shredding of the book, and the incidental reassembly of parts of the book with hints from the map. Reading rationality and dialogue from the machine hasn't shown bearing close examination.

@ahau @benlockwood @nakal My impression is if we want to work on intelligence, we can’t hide in the 20th century.

@bw The current AI hype is loud for that part of the crowd. There are many more sets of people who need what you are passionate about. (also AI might have energy, but it won’t have passion.) Thanks for your work, from a seasoned nut who was into hypertext before there was HTML.

@nando161@partyon.xyz Yup. Borders part of the con of ‘markets’. Markets are the the game of trading with n+1 unequal partners. Sure, I like all the buildings and food. That methodology/crime should be left behind though. We can do better. #NoKings #NoBorders
