@pmjv I'd not be surprised if the most commonly used one out there was the padlock, sometimes used to illustrate the value of "only trust the site if there's a padlock in the address bar" and similar guidelines.

@jgoerzen BTW, I just noticed that in my notes from when I had to start setting consoleblank in some system (possibly from c. 2019--2020?), I have this: «Despite what the commit message regarding this change [1] says, consoleblank *does* trigger DPMS. [1] https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=a4199f5eb8096d63828f7333fa45650a7b0a99ed » But it's likely I was missing something else that happened to make this also trigger DPMS. Notes also say "setterm --blank" seem to change the same value for all VTs, or at least triggers the same behaviour I was looking for.

I'd have to check but I think some of the setups of mine where the linux virtual console could trigger screen sleep with older versions were using dri and kms? I had to do a hardware change and getting this set up was one of the things I've been postponing. Maybe I should look into this soon...)

Might be especially relevant for something which seems to require massive computing power and which deals with massive amounts of data.

(No, really, the way I see it, there are way too many things - at least in Android - that are a step backwards compared to Windows 98, and I'm aware that system is far from flawless (and that a non-locked-down UNIX-like system would be much better)... but at least you could install what you wanted to, you could access the whole filesystem, and you didn't need system changes to access application data).)

@inthehands@hachyderm.io A challenge is when will news outlets finally stop just boasting "de-escalating" every time ICE or other Trump administration officials say it, and start using the word only when there's something tangible, verifiable, true. But if I earned a dollar (adjust for inflation) by every time a news outlet got away with misinformation or misreporting because they were using the words which were originally said by some lying party... well, I'd be in a different tax bracket, I guess.

@pwaring@social.xk7.net But cards can have / be in more than one network. In Portugal most, if not all, banks normally issue cards with both Visa/Mastercard and SIBS Multibanco. (Although whether this suffices probably depends on the degree of independence that's desired.)
