@FemaleIsNotAFeeling@spinster.xyz Have been vegan, not anymore. Mostly vegetarian due to squeamishness. Very occasionally eat fish. Will allow myself to eat birds & mammals if I crave them, but so far haven't. I really just don't like meat.

For example, Nina’s favorite nutrition shake, Soylent, is no longer available. SAD! We also discuss vegans, vegetarians, having to eat meat when you don’t want it, a canceled (and then uncanceled) YouTuber, Spirit Island, house-moving helicopters and other Homo wner content, and greatly exaggerating reports of our death.

3 days ago I biked 106 miles and felt pretty okay afterwards.

My house was built in 1956. It's in a "new" part of town that freaked me out when I was a child in the 1970's, because its trees were so small. Just over a decade earlier it was still farmland. I grew up in an older neighborhood, in a house built circa 1910. It was about 70 years old when I was a kid.

My "new" house is now 70 years old. The tiny trees around it have grown big and are starting to die. This is the second one to fall on my property this spring. I hope to hire an arborist to evaluate all the others before one crashes through my roof. Because I'm too low-income to downsize (long story) I'll just keep drawing down my savings to maintain this place until I run out.

Bought myself an ice cream maker and made ice cream. Also made warm fudge sauce, since I was already working with chocolate (TERFfles). The two together are AMAZING. Sometimes the things I produce in the kitchen are so good I feel sorry for the rest of the world for not getting to enjoy it.

@LadyMont@spinster.xyz Itches, burns, flakes and peels. I had to frequently remove dead skin from (ie pick) my ears or else it would accumulate in my ear canals and itch even more. Finally don't have to do that. Big relief.

I have had eczema in my ears since my late teens. Doctors have prescribed OTC cortisone cream, calendula cream, and eczema cream, which helped maybe 10% at best.
Recently a fellow sufferer told me ocean swimming seemed to improve her symptoms. I had leftover 3% saline solution after switching to 7% for treating my Bronchiectasis (lung condition) so started swabbing my ears with it twice daily.
It works. So much better now. Wish I hadn't had to wait until I was 58 to learn this. Wish doctors knew about it. Posting in case anyone with this annoying distracting maddening condition can use this info.

Today I used up the remains of a 40-year-old bottle of Chambord by adding a few tablespoons to a raspberry syrup I was cooking. Contents of this same bottle flavored a ricotta cake frosting when I was 17, and a few other dessert experiments. It continued living in my parents' house after I moved away for 23 years, and during my parents' stint in Malaysia in the late 1980's to early 1990's. It was still there when I moved back to Urbana in 2012, following my father's death, and moved to our new house in 2016. My Momz left it behind when she moved to the "independent living" place half a mile away.

I rinsed out the vintage bottle they no longer produce (sad!), and bought 375 fresh milliliters in an inferior bottle at Meijer, because it was on sale. It will likely outlive me.

@EatKnitSleep2@spinster.xyz Can you wear merino wool? I prefer merino bras to cotton because they regulate temperature better and don't collect sweat and stink. Also very breathable. Branwyn makes good ones, including a "busty" version for larger cup sizes, but they cost a lot.

The toilet was proudly and LOUDLY displayed in there too, so i got to hear every his digestive malfunction amplified by vibrating glass panes in the middle of the night every night.
